Moon Boots

The Buzz Lightyear facination sparked some imagination in Cade and his sidekick, Sydney. (I call them Pete and Repeat--but it may be awhile til they understand why :)  )
At first, Cade wanted pillows taped to his feet, and then settled for towels. They skated around the house (outer space) till the tape broke and then found their boots as part of their spacesuits.

Surprise Passenger

A few weeks ago, Cade and Syd and I decided to take a quick trip to the park before it was time to pick up Isa from school. As we were getting into the car, a surprise passenger jumped into the car and hopped right into Cade's carseat. No amount of coaxing was going to move the pup, I had to lift the it out of the car and it was determined to get right back in. Fortunately, a lady on roller blades, pushing a stroller, soon came by and the pup decided that they were more fun and tagged along with them. Not sure what she ended up doing with it; we escaped while we could. Well, that is, after I found a towel to go on Cade's carseat so he would sit in the chair again....

Isa and Cade at the park

Let's just say that I've learned since this day to be a lot more specific when I tell Syd to go get ready so we can go pick up Isa from school. Yes, we went out the door this way since we didn't have time for her to change clothes. Luckily we were able to park close on the curb by the gate so PJ Girl didn't have to get out of the car. And btw, she was dressed in pants and a top when I sent her in her room to get shoes.

Good Buddies

Cade and Sydney are in a fun stage where they enjoy playing together. Syd, of course, thinks everything her Bubba is doing is what she also should do. Every once in awhile, Cade gets bugged by this, but for the most part he likes having someone to play with (boss around?). Cuteness.

Park Days

Going to the park these days has become more fun and less stressful since Sydney is older. For awhile she went through a stage of wanting to go to the top of every structure but not wanting to go down any of the slides. That left me with climbing everything right along with her. I've also learned to avoid the park the kids call the "Rocket Park". That one is still a scary place--not enough railings at the top. I'm sure it didn't get the "mom" test before it was constructed.

This picture makes me smile because I remember Cade talking Syd into trading swings with him, by telling her his swing was better. I wonder how long she'll fall for his stories--or did she really know the truth all along?

Now if this one continues with more of these boy antics, it may get scary again!

A Visitor

A few weeks back, there was a visitor at the Vidal home. When it was Cade's turn to be Student of The Week at his preschool, it was also his turn to bring home Curious George and George's backpack full of clothes, even pjs. George then became part of the family and went everywhere with Cade. So for a week, Cade had 2 with him most of the time instead of one.

Fun Times Together

These are some random photos from October. The first 2 are of Cade and Sydney in their new playroom in the new house. They lined up stuffed animals and themselves on the roller coaster track, which can barely be seen under them.

The next 2 pics are tyoical of our ride home each schoolday after we pick up Isa--Cade being silly, Isa always ready for a picture (and dictating to the other 2!), and Syd watching and copying and coming up with her own silliness.

The next 4 pics are taken out in the Vidals backyard.

And finally, these last 2 pics are of Sydney. On Mondays and Thursdays now, it's just me and Syd at home while Isa and Cade are in school. This particular day we had just been to Target and I bought Syd Minnie Mouse tights which she wanted to hold on the ride home. She got the package open and this is what I found when I went to get her out when we got home. This was as far as she could get them on and then she fell asleep.

Big Bro/Little Sis

After spending all summer with their big sister, Isa, at home, and listening to her call the shots as to what they all are doing, it's been a good experience for Cade to experience being the older child since Isa went back to school. At first, he seemed to not quite know what to do with his new role, but it didn't take him long to start enjoying being the boss! And he also enjoys helping Sydney. This video shows one of those times. I was glad to have my camera close at hand so I could capture part of this scenario.

Preschool For Cade!

Cade started Preschool today--all day! The original plan was for him to attend 2 half-days per week. But when Jill and Marcus started looking into the possibility of him attending all day, he was excited to try it! Really? Yes, even after explaining that he would have to lay down and take a 2 hour nap after lunch, he was still wanting it. (This boy hasn't taken regular naps since he was 2.5...)
So I met Jill, Cade, and Sydney at Small Wonders this morning so that Jill could go on to work and Syd could come with me.


Anxious to get inside!

Cade reported that he had a great day! The only little hitch in his day was that he DID fall asleep during nap time and when he woke up he got a bit scared because he didn't know where he was. He also had to report to Grandpa that he didn't snore during nap time, since Grandpa had asked him about that the night before and Cade had said that he thought that he only "breathes out air when he sleeps"!

My favorite part of his report was that he excitedly said, "I made 2 friends!" (Thursday, he will learn their names  :)  )

And Syd... was smiley and happy and talkative all day and very mellow. Well, her kind of mellow.

Dancing Partners

Even though the adults around Sydney seem to comment a lot about her antics, she has a very special relationship with her siblings--call it mutual adoration maybe. I'm not sure about the next stages that are ahead, but right now they can have such sweetness toward each other and fun together, and I'm glad to sometimes be able to capture them in action. This video is one of those times with Big Brother Cade and Little Sister Sydney.  :)

And just an added note: I started this post a week ago and couldn't get the video to download. After several tries, I deduced that using the icon of "insert a video" doesn't work (!) I got the video to download by using "insert image", the same as for all of the pictures. Go figure.

Cade is Four!

Ahoy Mateys! The big countdown to Cade's birthday has come and gone. His celebration took place at the new Dewars, where they have a fun set-up with a party room and a play room that's perfect for an active bunch of kids.
