Got Me

Well, she got me again. I was SO sure she was in Cade's room playing. Cade and Sydney had been playing really well together in and out of his room for about 30 minutes when Cade came out to the kitchen and said he was hungry and wanted some lunch. Silly me, but I assumed Syd was still playing. I made and gave Cade his sandwich and then made one for Sydney and called her. No answer. So I went into Cade's room to look for her. No Syd. Not full blown panic yet, but I did run into Jill and Marcus' bedroom. Just as I was passing through the doorway, I got a strong whiff of nail polish. Ok, now I was much closer to the panic stage. My mind raced with thoughts like, "What was I going to see when I went around the corner into the bathroom???" I even visualized several possibilities. When I turned the corner, there she was, sitting on the floor, with her back against the cabinets, and painting her toenails! Well, actually, she had painted all of both big toes, which included the toenails. Did I run for the camera? You bet I did! She was still intently painting when I got back with Cade following close behind. And she was SO proud of herself!

You know, for a 21 month old, she did very well! Love, love, love this little girl!

The Joy

I received a gift yesterday, a gift from my precious Lord Jesus. It came in the form of 4 simple words from my mother. I don't think she even understood what it meant to me when she said them. She was having a difficult time speaking, as she often does these days. Sometimes the words just won't come. So I decided
to continue reading Philippians that I started the day before.

Phi 2:1-2
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Reading this gave me an opportunity to talk to her (93 yrs old, but less than 2 yrs as a believer) about God's joy and how we can have it no matter what our circumstances and how special it is to me. I went on talking for while and I was just starting to wonder if she understood what I was saying, and she said, "I feel the joy."
"What? You do?"  She nodded. She couldn't say anything else after that, but those 4 words were perfectly clear. Wow. Our gracious God gives great gifts!

Family Day RBC 2012

The preschoolers, including Cade, sang a few songs recently on Family Day at our church. Well, I should say that most of them sang, not Mr.-I'll-happily-stand-up-on-stage-but-I'm-not-going-to-sing. In all fairness, he was not the only 3 yr old who wasn't singing, but we just found it odd that he sings those songs all the time, liked being on stage, but chose not to sing this time.

Who knows what Cade was doing in this picture!
Next were 4 BFFs reciting a verse. Great job, girls!

After the service and then lunch, we moved on to the games.

Cade's favorite-plunging his leg into ice water to retrieve marbles with his toes! Brrr!
Cade and Nathan were inseparable. Nathan is a year older and was really watching out for Cade. Each time they would move on to a new game he would take hold of Cade's arm. He was also more than willing to let Cade try everything first while he watched. What a sweetie!

This precious one has entered the stage where she goes off on her own or with friends. She's growing up so fast!

Keeping 'em Busy

I like that Sydney is now old enough to do more activities with Cade. Bubbles is a favorite for both of them. And for me also!

Of course there's still a little frustration with not being allowed to do EVERYTHING she wants!

Let the Games Begin!

It seems like just a blink of an eye ago that we were watching Jill and Jen playing basketball or swimming, and now we're watching Isa and Cade. Last month it was Isa playing b-ball.

I think Cade's favorite part of the games was when Grandpa would take him to get fruit snacks from the vending machine.

Now we have moved on to watching Isa play softball and Cade, T-ball.

I had to laugh at this next picture of Cade. At one point he was not excited to be running the bases. (He has a similar trait of others in our family--he was hungry)

But later he got more excited about the game.

I've got to hand it to Marcus for volunteering agreeing to coach both of their teams. Great job, Marcus! And to Jill for pitching to Isa's team!
