Sunday Night Entertainment

The Lakers played again tonight. Sadly, they lost; but thankfully, we were not lacking for winning entertainment.  On the floor in front of the tv, with promptings from Jill, Cade was demonstrating his versions of various animals. Let's see if you can name the animal.

The first was a frog, the second, a snake, and the third, a dog.
Now I'm wishing that I had taken a video of him instead of just snapshots! The sound-effects were priceless!

Grandpa's Glasses

Grandbaby fun last night as they discovered what they could find to entertain themselves while the grown-ups watched the Laker game.  Cade insisted on wearing Grandpa's glasses his way.  Cade and Amelia are just beginning to actually play together instead of just claiming what the other one has in hand. A few more months and maybe the "Mine!" will disappear...or...maybe not. =)

Bubbles

Bubbles have to be one of the best discoveries ever for kids or even adults. There seems to be an endless number of ways to produce them, from teeny tiny groups of them to giant-sized ones that you can stand inside (that kind will come later this summer).
This past week, Isa, Cade, and I played with bubbles on their kitchen island.  I know it sounds like it might develop into a big mess, but it really doesn't! We start by filling the kitchen sink with warm water and an extra dose of dish soap--any kind will do, but I think Dawn works the best. (Dawn also works the best for blowing bubbles outside. It seems to have more elasticity.) Then we scoop the bubbles off the top of the water and move them over to the table. A large, flat frying pan works well to hold them, and we gather any other small cups, spoons or other kitchen items we can find. When the supply of bubbles runs down, all we have to do is run more water into the sink and scoop off some more.  Its terrific fun finding out how the bubbles will fill, squish, pile high and even blow! When it's time to clean up, most of the bubbles have already disappeared.

Baby Dedication

On Mother's Day, Jen and Steve added to the day being special by dedicating Amelia and Nathan at their church (Riverlakes). God's blessings are overflowing!

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."  Mark 13:14

"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not part from it."  Pro. 22:6

"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."  1 Chron 16:34

(sorry about the eyes in this one....)

One minute after this picture there were bunches of petals on the floor!

First Haircut

Amelia had her first haircut this week--not an easy task for a hairdresser with a reluctant 19-Month-Old in her chair! Amelia was happy with getting up in the chair until she found out we wanted her to stay there and hold still. So, first I held her while Jen distracted her and half way through we traded places. Finally, a bottle of milk helped to get the finishing touches done. The ending was Amelia's favorite part. She really liked the bow and getting down to play!

Good Times With My Girls

It's not very often that Jill and Jen and I get to do something together without husbands and babies (not that those times aren't also special!), so it was one of those sweet moments, a God-gift, I'd say, on Saturday morning when we 3 went to get pedicures together. Good times laughing and sharing in between an already busy day of activities. I'm beginning to understand why I sometimes catch my mother just staring at me. It's such a blessing to look at my girls and see how God is working in them, and they in turn, are blessing their own families. Thank you Jen for inviting and taking us to do this together for Mother's Day!

And look at our gorgeous toes!!! (Sorry girls for passing on the long toes to you! Should I remind you about how in your youth you couldn't wait to have bigger feet?)
