Couponing

Well, I never really thought I would be back in the fray of couponing again from many years in the past, but I decided to give it a try. I hear so much from my daughters about their bargains, and knowing how I like a good deal, I just can't pass up giving it a try. It's like a challenge. Don't know how long the effort will last, but here's my first list:

Target:
2 Sonic replacement head toothbrushes
Antibiotic ointment ($5!!, recommended by dr.)
Toothpaste
2 toothbrushes, free
2 loaves bread, free
napkins, free
Charmin TP,20 ct.
Bounty paper towels, 12 ct
Liquid make-up
Card

$28.00 off the total. Not bad, but the challenge is on to do better! One coupon was skipped, so I'll have to watch more closely.

Then I moved on to the grocery store. After planning, shopping and cooking meals for the past week, I'm once again paying more attention to food prices. Ok, I realize that many of you are doing this all of the time, but me, I'm really out of practice. Chef Mike has done an awesome job for quite awhile now! So...

SAVE MART:
1 can Bush's baked beans
.6 lb Coffee beans
1 lg bag Doritos
1 lg bag Tostitos
4 boxes Multigrain Cherios cereal
1 24 ct ice cream cone cups
1 box lightbulbs
6 ears corn
3 lg canteloupe
1 cilantro
1 pkg hotdogs
1pkg hotlinks
4 lbs spareribs
1 doz eggs
1 loaf fr bread
1/2 gal ice cream

Yes, I'm aware that this shopping list does not make complete meals, but the rest of the shopping I'll do at WinCo. I only went for the deals at Savemart. Want to guess the total??? Then scroll back up and review the list and make a guess before you scroll down again.

$82.61 - 51.06 (sales and coupons) =  $31.55 ! Now, that's a shopping trip!

The Double-Coupon days were even better, but for now, I'll just be happy that the CA sales tax went back to 7.25%!
