Fun With a 6 Year Old

Well, it's happened again....my words have come back to bite me. I remember the first time I heard about Grandparents' Day, my thoughts were rather cynical in thinking it was just another day for the greeting card companies to make another buck. Ok, I admit that those thoughts were before I became a grandmother (or, as I'm more commonly called, Damma). While it's quite possible that I was correct in my view of why the special day was created, it definitely has become a special time for us.
This is an overdo post about Grandparents' Day in September.   Again this year, grandparents were invited to come to Isa's classroom. The students had prepared a song (which Isa helped lead), and then we did a quick art project with our traced hands. But the best part had to be simply spending time with Isa and letting her explain everything going on in her classroom. Oh, the perks of retirement!

Fun With a 6 Year Old, part 2:

Isa was the "Eagle of the Month" in her class for October. She was excited about receiving an award for this, but I think she was even more excited to receive her library card that she earned for attaining 25 points in the Accelerated Reading program.  She has been a little reading sponge for the past couple months. What a joy it has been to watch her develop her love for reading! The bonus has been that she can now read almost anything she picks up! It's SO cute to watch Cade snuggle up in a chair with her and listen to her read! Even Little Miss Syd sits with her--well, maybe not for very long yet. Well done Isabella Lorraine!!
